Elettra Bedon was born in Padua and after completing her studies in Italy moved to Montréal (Canada) where she received a Ph.D. from McGill University and studied twentieth-century literature in the language of Veneto. She has published Il filo di Arianna, essays on twentieth-century literature in the language of Veneto, 1999; the book of poems Con altre parole, 1998; the book of narrative Storie di Eglia, 1998; and the books for children Ma l'estate verrà ancora, 1985, Vi racconto di Gesù, 1991, and Mio zio l'investigatore, 1998. In 2000 she published Al di là della veste, a study of Cesare Ruffato's Scribendi licentia.

Gaetano Cipolla has translated several authors from the Sicilian: Giovanni Meli's The Origins of the World, Don Chisciotti and Sanciu Panza, and Moral Fables and Other Poems; Vincenzo Ancona's Malidittu la lingua /Damned Language; The Poetry of Nino Martoglio; Antonino Provenzano's Vinissi/I'd Love to Come. He is a professor of Italian at St. John's University and editor of Arba Sicula.

Nelvia Di Monte Nata a Pampaluna (Udine) nel 1952, risiede in provincia di Milano, dove insegna lettere. Dopo la laurea in filosofia, ha conseguito il perfezionamento presso l'Università di Pavia. Ha collaborato alla rivista Lapis con saggi filosofici (su Hannah Arendt e Maria Zambrano) e letterari su Dolores Prato, Celeste Galilei e sulla scrittura poetica di alcune autrici italiane contemporanee (Rime e rimandi, il saggio critico che riguarda quest'ultimo argomento, è presente nel volume: Lapis, sezione aurea di una rivista, manifestolibri, Roma 1998). Ha pubblicato la raccolta di poesie friulane Cjanz da la Meriche (Gazebo, Firenze 1996), finalista premio Lanciano, con prefazione di Achille Serrao. Poesie friulane sono state pubblicate su diverse riviste, tra cui Galleria, Poesia, Tratti, micRomania (Bruxelles) e su alcune antologie. Testi di critica letteraria e recensioni, oltre a testi poetici in friulano, sono apparsi su: Diverse lingue, Il Segnale, Pagine, Periferie.

Nicola Fiorentino was born in Casoli (Chieti) in 1933 and lives in Lanciano. He received a degree in modern literature from the University of Rome and has taught Italian language and literature in high school. His main interest is dialect poetry from Abruzzo and he has published essays, articles, and reviews in il Belli, Pagine, Periferie, Diverse Lingue, Rivista Abruzzese, Punto d'Incontro, besides local periodicals like Terra e Gente, La Voce, Periodico Abruzzese. He has prefaced several volumes of dialect poetry and was one of the writers interviewed by Achille Serrao in Presunto inverno.

Giose Rimanelli is Professor Emeritus of Italian and Comparative Literature at SUNY/Albany. He has published several novels, among which Tiro al piccione (1953) (reprinted by Einaudi, 1991), Peccato originale (1954), Biglietto di terza (1958), Una posi­zione sociale (1959), Graffiti (1977), Molise Molise (1979), La stanza grande (1996). He received the American Book Award for his novel Benedetta in Guysterland (1994). To narrative he has added poetry, jour­nalism, theater and literary criticism. Of particular interest are Il mestiere del furbo (1959), The in Casa Picasso (1961), Lares (1962), Il corno francese (1962), Modern Canadian Sto­ries (1966), Tragica America 1968), Italian Litera­ture, Roots & Branches (1976). Achille Serrao was born in Rome from parents from Campania and received a degree in jurisprudence. He began writing poetry in Italian in 1968 with a small book of poems titled Coordinata popolare, followed by Honeste vivere, 1970; Destinato alla giostra, 1974; Lista d'attesa, 1979; L'altrove il senso, 1985. His works of narrative are: Scene dei guasti, 1978 ; Cammeo, 1981; Retropalco, 995. His critical works are Contributi per una saggistica luziana, 1984; L'ònoma - appunti per una lettura della poesia di Giorgio Caproni; Ponte rotto, 11992; and Presunto inverno, 1999. In dialect he has published Mal'aria, 1990; 'O ssupierchio, 1993; 'A canniatura 1993; Cecatèlla, 1995; Semmènta vèrde, 1996. In 1992 he edited the anthology of neodialect poetry Via terra, which appeared in English translation in 1999, edited by Luigi Bonaffini and Justin Vitiello.Cantalésia, a trilingual anthology of his dialect poetry, edited and translated by luigi Bonaffini, appeared in 1999. Some of his poem appear in La poesia in dialetto, edited by Franco Brevini, 1999, for which Serrao translated into Italian the Neapolitan poets from the fifteenth to the twentieth century. He is the dialect editor of Pagine and edits the literary periodical Periferie.

Cosma Siani lives in Rome. He is an English teacher and teacher-trainer in the Italian state school system, and a mentor in the Lazio-Universities post-graduate school for teacher training (SSIS). A contributor to the Italian book review monthly L'Indice dei libri del mese, he has also contributed literary reviews and essays to American academic journals of Italian studies (Forum italicum, Italian Quarterly, Rivista di Studi Italiani). Among the books he has authored or edited are a collection of reviews, Libri all'Indice e altri (Lecce: Manni, 2001), volumes on Joseph Tusiani's work (L'io diviso. Gian Mario Villalta was born in 1959 inVisinale di Passion, in the province of Pordenone. He received a degree in literature in Bologna with a thesis on the rhetoric of the text. His books of poetry in dialect include Altro che storie, 1988; Sapeghéte, 1992; Vose de vose, 1995; L'ass ingrevà de la tera, in Cinque poeti in dialetto veneto, 1998. In Italian he has published L'erba in tasca, 1992; Malcerti animali in Poesia Coontemporanea, 1992. He has published numerous studies, among which "L'introduzione a Amedeo Giacomini," in Antologia privata, 1997; and Andrea Zanzotto. Le poesie e prose scelte, edited by S. Dal Bianco and G.M. Villalta, 1999. He has published two books of criticism: La costanza del vocativo. Lettura della "trilogia" di Andrea Zanzotto: Il Galateo nel bosco, Fosfeni, Idioma, 1992; and La mimesi è finita, 1996. His first book of fiction, Un dolore riconoscente, came out in 2000.
